Mauricio Chernovetzky has worked with internationally recognized talent, such as Academy Award Nominated Stephen Rea and Eleanor Tomlinson. His supernatural feature, Styria received the Industry Choice Award at the Dances With Films Festival in Hollywood and was picked up by Showtime. His thesis film, Cassandra was nominated for a National Student Academy Award. He second feature, Ugly Ducklings, an absurdist comedy set in Chihuahua, premiered at the Warsaw Film Festival, and is currently being distributed in independent cinemas across Mexico. At the height of the pandemic, Mauricio returned to the mountains of Chihuahua and shot a horror film called The Dark, which is currently in post-production. He recently filmed a psychological thriller called Sacrificios. Mauricio obtained a degree in Literature and Religion from Reed College, a Masters degree in Film, Television and New Media from San Diego State University, and studied directing at the National Polish Film School in Lodz.

His short films, Trémulo directed by Roberto Fiesco, Ramona by Giovanna Zacarías, and Oasis by Alex Zuno, all won an Ariel for best short. His most recent features include No One Will Ever know, Ugly Duckings, and Amores Incompletos. Alexander is a multi-lingual screenwriter, who uses his personal experiences as a refugee, a psychotherapist and a globe trotting adventurer to infuse his stories with a unique blend of poetry and reality. His screenplays have been on the prestigious Black List and have received multiple awards and nominations from international competitions (such as American Zoetrope International Screenplay Contest), and he has been commissioned by AJ Annila and Mangaani Pictures to writea feature-length screenplay, which will be produced in 2024.
